Incoloy 27-7MO (Alloy 27-7MO, UNS S31277) Pipe Description:
Inconel®, Incoloy® and Monel® are registered trademarks of Special Metals Corporation and its subsidiaries.
The Incoloy alloy 27-7MO is a superaustenitic stainless steel containing 7% molybdenum. In most environments it demonstrates a higher corrosion resistance than superaustenitic steels with 6% molybdenum. In several environments, Incoloy 27-7MO (UNS S31277) exhibits corrosion resistance that approaches that of materials with a higher alloy content such as INCONEL alloys 625, 22 and C-276.
Incoloy 27-7MO products typically contain 27% nickel, 22% chromium, 7.2% molybdenum and 0.34% nitrogen. Given the molybdenum, chromium and nitrogen levels, the 27-7MO alloy offers quantifiable resistance against pitting and crevice corrosion. Nickel, nitrogen and molybdenum impart resistance to reducing media, while the elevated chromium content provides resistance to oxidising media. Consequently, Incoloy 27-7MO is suitable for use in mixed acidic environments, particularly those that contain both oxidising and reducing acids.
